The Shiv Sena on Monday announced that all the powers of the president of the party is now vested in the Executive President Uddhav Thackeray.
An ad in the Saamna spokesman said the decision was taken at a meeting of leaders of the main parties to the Thackeray residence Matoshri. "All the powers of Shiv Sena Pramukh (Chief) will be with Uddhav Thackeray, executive president. This was decided at a meeting of the leaders of Shiv Sena," the statement said, in a development that has been planned.
Uddhav, age 52, is Executive Chairman of the party since 2004. It will now de facto president of the party. His father Bal Thackeray had founded the party he led for more than four decades until his death on November 17. After the death of Bal Thackeray, a photograph of a sandalwood garland was placed on the chair, he regularly used.
"The group's first meeting was held in" Thackeray Durbar "(the room where the photo garlands fire chief of the Shiv Sena was placed), where all leaders unanimously expressed confidence in and decided Uddhav authorization (Uddhav Thackeray) to fill the late Bal Thackeray dreams, "the statement said.
Thackeray was granted a public state funeral on 18 November at Shivaji Park, with nearly two million people take part in the funeral procession.
